Our Anniversary "getaway"!

I apologize for the long break in my posting. Aside from just a few mundane trips to the store, we really haven't done much.
We took 3 days to ourselves for our 6th anniversary and left Bee with my aunt and uncle. We stayed at an Inn in Chiang Mai and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the sights nearby. Some of our highlights were Sunday Night Walking Street, Night Bazaar, Jazz Club, a cute coffee shop, lots of good food, and buying our train tickets to the islands!
Enjoy!

Night of fellowship with Christians in the mountains

Beautiful night! Great food, singing, prayer, and lots of smiling and nodding our heads since we didn't understand a word. It was an experience I'll never forget and we were so glad for this opportunity! Bee made a friend with a little boy who reminded me a lot of her friend Trenton in the States. And bubbles break all language barriers! They had so much to eat and I was so thankful that Bee ate their food too. She couldn't get enough of the rice, pork and fried eggs. She has not been really interested in trying food here so I was glad she picked that night to eat up! After dinner they had a time of sharing what God had been doing in their lives followed with singing and prayer. Great first night in the mountains!
Ending the night with fireworks
Bubbles!
Preparing the fire to cook the meat and Kau-Lam

The view from our host's home.
Making Kau-Lam, it's a sweet sticky rice cooked in bamboo.

Getting around....

Wow, I don't know why I haven't posted in so long. We've been all over the place but some has been "repeat" and didn't want to just show you more of the mall. So here are a few pictures from our date. We went to this cool restaurant with a little conveyer belt that carries the food by. We each had a "hot pot" in front of us and start with a basic broth and then you add in all the veggies, meat and noodles you want. Very cool. There were a lot of foods going by us though that we'd never seen before so we ended up trying a few things; some were good, others not so much. It was an "all you can eat" place but you only had 1 hour an 20 min to eat. They even highlighted the time on our ticket that we needed to leave by! :-)

Fathers Day

Yesterday was Fathers Day/Kings birthday in Thailand. To celebrate they had a special time of honoring the fathers at church on Sunday. The children spoke blessing on their father and in turn the fathers blessed their children. Very sweet to watch and be a part of.
Monday evening we celebrated by going to a New York Pizza eatery. The pizza was the largest I've ever seen; 25 inches across!! TJ, that pic was for you! :-) It was really quite good and should be since the owner and cook is a New Yorker!
Happy Thai Fathers Day!

Date day at Silver Dollar City

This was a much needed day to get away and enjoy each other. It was relaxing and I sure hope it's not too long before we get another day like it!
Enjoy the pics!

New Experiences

So last year for Fathers Day I gave D a "gift card" for a guided fishing tour. He finally took advantage of it this last week and brought home quite the haul! I think it was 5 Sand Bass and 8 Catfish. After watching a dozen YouTube videos we figured out how to filet them and with some cooking hints from a friend, we had one delicious meal of fried fish and grilled corn! YUM!
